I have always thought of the seasons starting on the Solstice or Equinox, but most of the people I know think the seasons follow the start of the calendar months of March, June, September & December.
So I went looking into it, turns out that only New Zealand and Australia follow this principal, rest of the world follows the amount of sunlight and earth tilt.
As I had a European mum, this makes complete sense that's what I was taught.
That aside, I am loving the Winter getting ready to make way for Spring, all the flowers and joy that late Winter brings certainly makes up for the cold and storms we have had of late. I have loved the storms, its a great reminder that in reality, most things are out of our control.
Here's a few things I am loving in my Gardens and Orchards, listed in order of appearance below:
Cornus contraversa variagata ( Wedding Cake Tree)
Acer viridis (Weeping Japanese Maple)
Acer Beni Hime (Dwarf Red Japanese Maple)
